This year’s queen is a young lady that makes our community proud. She is a current student at Elgin Community college majoring in culinary arts with the hope of someday becoming a pastry chef and proud business owner of her very own pastry business. Her commitment to her community is evident by her position as Vice President of Student Government as well as the Phi Theta Kappa President's Chair Officer. She’s also been a recognized member of USAC (United Students of all Cultures) and OLAS (Organization of Latin American Students) at Elgin Community College. She is a fine example of one of those rare gifted people that are both very creative and very smart. We are extremely proud to announce PRHO's Pageant Scholarship Program recipient and 2010/201 Queen - Ms. Yessenia Vazquez! |

| Miss Puerto Rico of Elgin 2010-2011 |
I am very grateful and honored to be crowned the Queen for the Puerto Rican Heritage Organization. I am very excited for my future reign as queen for PRHO, along with all the opportunities that it brings. As a young girl, I have always looked at the Queen for PRHO as a successful and driven Latina figure. Becoming queen and representing the Puerto Rican community of Elgin has been my ultimate achievement to date. I love to lead others in the right path to success, as I do for myself. I have the desire to lead future queens and help them become successful Latina figures that will proudly represent our community as well. As the youngest member of my family, I have plenty of positive role models to guide me in the right path towards success. Family has been a major part of who I am, and I want to say Thank You to them for all their unconditional love and support. As for myself I am currently in college to pursue my Bachelor’s degree in the near future. |
