Our Vision is to encourage scholarship achievement, community involvement, high moral standards, leadership and Puerto Rican cultural awareness in young woman of the Puerto Rican heritage.
Our mision is to provide a platform, a set of experiences and a public venue to recognize, value and support young woman of the Puerto Rican heritage as they demonstrate scholastic achievement, community involvement, high moral standards, leadership and the Puerto Rican cultural awareness.
Abigail Soto was born in the city of Elgin, Illinois. Her parents Iris Espinoza and Rafael Soto are both from the city of Aguada, Puerto Rico and have always encouraged her since she was very young to be proud of her Puerto Rican culture. She demonstrated love for her Puerto Rican heritage since she was two years old participating in the Puerto Rican parade in Elgin for more than 10 consecutive years. She appeared in many newspaper articles including in Reflejos with a one page spread in both years 2006 and 2011. Abigail along with her two sisters, Karina and Adamaris, and members of the Puerto Rican Heritage Organization appeared on live broadcast in the NBC studios, Channel 5 Downtown Chicago promoting the celebration of BoriquaFest and demonstrating her talent of dancing for 2011's TV Commercial.
Growing up she always enjoyed dancing and sharing time with her family and her siblings. She volunteered for Little Angels when she was in 9th grade and she has been a member of the boys and girls club since she was 13 years old where she would attend many fundraising events and representing the club in many club dinners. She currently forms part of an association called Youth Leadership Academy which gives her the opportunity of receiving a scholarship for two years of college in Elgin Community College. We are more than sure that Abigail can achieve this and more.
She is currently a senior at Burlington Central High School and her future goals include finishing her first two years at Elgin Community College and then transferring to a four year institution to finish her Forensic Examiner Degree.
The Puerto Rican Heritage Organization is very proud of Abby in representing our culture, people and organization.
