The Puerto Rican
Heritage Organization
Since 1992, the Elgin Puerto Rican Parade Committee hosted an annual parade
and festival. In 2006, the group reinvented itself and became The Puerto
Rican Heritage Organization (PRHO). Within months, it became an Elgin-based,
tax-exempt non-profit organization and drafted a mission which states:
Our mission is to impact the community by building a positive understanding
of Puerto Rican heritage and culture through the promotion of education and
advancement.
PRHO typically hosts several major events throughout the year:
I. BoriquaFest
II. Scholarship Pageant
III. Dignitary’s Dinner
IV. Networking Mixers
V. Various cultural dances and events
